Are there federal strings attached to the Utah adopted nationalized education standards we call the common core? According to the just before the election pamphlet titled How is Nebo setting standards? currently being distributed with your tax dollars through the school system, the Utah Core Standards are, ...a state-led effort to better prepare students to compete in a global economy. The federal government did not participate in the creation of the standards, and they are not federally controlled. How I wish that this were true. But, it is not. The Federal government has a decades long history of federal revenue sharing monies that have been the tail wagging the dog in education .Common Core is just the fruit of the poisonous progressive vine of No Child Left Behind. Should you get a copy of the Nebo School District brochure I would ask you to carefully scrutinize the content of this brochure and research these issues out for yourself.
