Are you angry with God? Then this devotion is for you. After healing an invalid of thirty-eight years, Jesus Christ made an interesting comment to this man. He said “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” Is there a link between sin and sickness? Absolutely. Is there a link between our sin and bad things happening to us? You bet! While God forgives the sin of a Christian, He normally keeps the consequences of that sinful behavior in place. What could be worse than being crippled his whole life? Jesus knew the answer was physical and spiritual death. There is no indication this man placed his faith in Jesus Christ, in fact, the healed man did not even know Christ. Sometimes Christians like to think that forgiveness from God equates into no consequences for sin. That simply is not true. Any child raised correctly knows their parents love them and forgives them for their bad behavior, but they should also know that discipline and punishment are sure to follow in most cases that do not warrant a graceful pass from the parents. If God is punishing you right now for some bad mistakes, be humble, accept the correction, fall into your Fathers arms, and do not adopt the attitude of the enemy of our souls by being angry with God. That is a terrible place to be and will only invite the wrath of God into your life and not His grace.
