Are you in favour of laws making it illegal for children to work? I worked in a pizza restaurant where a 10 yo kid folded pizza boxes for $8 cash an hour. He was loving it because he saved money and decked out his room full of goodies. He also learned how to be of value because when he got really fast, he got a raise to $10. Unfortunately, he had to work in the back where no one could see him; otherwise he may have been able to work more often and learn new skills out the front ... perhaps even learn to run the entire restaurant by age 14 or so. The second thing Ill add is that working hospitality in Australia sucks. Labour is so expensive that it puts huge amounts of pressure on workers. If we had some kids washing dishes after school so we could provide a better service to customers instead of being overworked with minimal employees it would be better for everyone. Discuss.
