Are you ready for your Around the World Trip? Union staff are now setting up for Grad Ball and are unable to respond to all emails. Ticket collection is still available this afternoon from the Union Shop, however we can no longer arrange new nominations for others to collect on your behalf. It is now too short notice at this late stage to request a nomination as staff are dealing with setup and collections. --- COLLECTION ON THE NIGHT Due to the number of students who have failed to collect during the May and July collection weeks, we will be operating a ticket enquiries desk for a short period at the start of the event between 8pm and 10pm only, on Saturday. You will be able to collect your ticket with the appropriate photo ID, but will then have to join the main queue for entry. We recommend arriving as early as possible to avoid queues, once you’ve collected your ticket you will have to queue for entry separately. --- BRING VALID PHOTO ID Grad Ball is a licensed event, all attendees must be aged 18 or over. Please bring valid photo ID with you, everyone will be asked for theirs on entry. You will not be allowed to enter the venue without one of the following valid forms of ID: - Your Campus ID Card - Passport - Photocard Driving License Any ticket-holding guests coming with you to the event will also need valid photo ID. --- FREE CLOAKROOM This year there is a free cloakroom facility provided should you wish to use it. The cloakroom is located on the left after the entrance, under the bridge (the ground floor of Gun House). --- MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH CASH BEFORE ENTERING The outdoor and upstairs bar and catering outlets at Grad Ball will be cash only. Card payments will only be accepted in the Waterhole Bar. We recommend taking out cash earlier in the day. The cash points outside the Union have run out every year, please ensure you have enough cash with you before entering the venue. Re-entry is not permitted. --- BAGGAGE CHECKS Baggage checks will be taking place. Please ensure you do not bring food, drink or any illegal substances with you to the event as they will be confiscated and you may be refused entry. --- LOST TICKETS The Union cannot replace lost tickets or provide entry. The Union has stressed that tickets should be kept safe at numerous intervals: online when booking, at ticket collection and on the ticket itself and supporting materials. The reason for this policy is the licensed capacity of the venue. It is a health and safety issue in the control of the local authority, legally we cannot oversell or permit entry beyond the limits imposed on the venue (which is operated by the University of Portsmouth). Unless the ticket(s) in question are found or returned to the Union, the Union and the University of Portsmouth cannot guarantee to the local authority that we have met our obligations. This is how most venues operate, and whilst we have to be strict due to the regulations imposed on us we have made every effort to remind ticket holders to keep their ticket(s) in a safe place. Many thanks, The Union
