Are you ready to build more open government using civic technology in Minnesota? Check out HF2611/SF2238: openminnesota.org Committee hearings are coming soon. Join supporters on our new Facebook group: https://facebook/groups/openminnesota/ Huge shout out to our legislative authors: Rep. Steve Simon, Senator Foung Hawj, Sen. Matt Schmit, Rep. Ryan Winkler, Sen. Dick Cohen, Rep. Zachary Dorholt, Sen. Sandy Pappas, Rep. Joe Radinovich, Sen. Terri Bonoff, and Rep. Jim Davnie. Mark Ritchie our SOS has been greatly supportive of open government as well. If you are connected to Gov. Mark Daytons staff, let me know. Ive introduced this to Matt Entenza so far. While the bill and initiative is very non-partisan, we hope those who support openness and innovation across the political spectrum will join us. Open Minnesota will take the awesome work of Open Twin Cities - opentwincities.org statewide. The Smart Chicago Collaborative is the well-funded regional inspiration - openminnesota.org/inspiration - kicking our butt. And according to the Knight Foundations analysis of civic technology start-up investments and grants, Minnesota has attracted only 0.1% of the *$700 million* invested since 2011 - bit.ly/civictechblogupdate (to E-Democracy - bit.ly/edemknight ) - we can and must do better than that!
