Are you sad that Oktoberfest is over? Well no need to be. The Stuttgart Cannstatter Wasen still runs another week through Oct. 12. The Stuttgart Volksfest is Munich Oktoberfest’s largest rival and is much less touristy, but with all the same charm. Located less than three hours from Grafenwoehr, the Wasan arguably provides a more authentic experience and one in which Germans are not in fact the minority. If you find that you have had your fill of volksfest fun, there is a lot in the city to keep you occupied as Stuttgart is a first rate European city offering a host of unique cultural attractions and outdoor activities, to include the Porsche and Mercedes museums.
