I couldnt watch this without tears streaming down my face. I just heard about this ice bucket challenge recently, and I had no idea what it was about and what it was raising money for. If youve been out of the loop like I have been, you need to watch this video to see where it all started, and how funds are being raised for ALS. My dad was diagnosed with ALS in his mid-forties, and died at the age of 47, in 2009. I remember the frustration of wondering what was going on with his body, and then a year of mis-diagnoses and no answers, and then finally the devastation that came along with the diagnosis of ALS. I didnt know at the time what that meant. Initially I thought it would mean that hed be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, but that it was something we would all get through. I learned that it affects every part of your life - everything you were once able to do. My family and I watched him lose control of his movement, his speech, his ability to feed himself, and he eventually struggled to breathe. His disease progressed quickly, and we lost him far too soon - he never even got to meet my daughter. I love that this has gone viral and that people everywhere are participating in raising awareness and donating funds. Im nominating myself and will be donating as well. If you already have, thank you, and know that there are so many faces and families behind this terrible disease who appreciate your generosity
