Are you the kind of person who hurls epitaphs? I hope not! Look, people, this isnt even a homophone! An EPITAPH (Greek, funeral oration) is something kind -- like His Grammar Was Always Perfect -- that is said out loud or written about someone who has died. An EPITHET (Greek, attributed) is descriptive and neutral, but has often come to mean descriptive in an unkind way, to the point that only upper-case symbols above the numbers on your keyboard can begin to convey what a $^#)(*!&# you think someone is. You might hurl an epitaph, but when its carved into granite it could be dangerous. In that case, sticks and stones may indeed break some bones.
