Argh! It is so sad to see Canadian society, as we once knew it, crumbling before our eyes. I just looked out my window and there was a little old lady (in her 70s, maybe even 80s) with a WALKER (!) making her way through the garbage cans looking for bottles. This made me so sad/mad. I went down to give her $20 and the sad, lonely look in her eyes almost made me cry right then. She was so grateful that I felt embarrassed. She said it would go towards buying food for her cat. I had to go so that I could go upstairs and ball my eyes out. Just thinking about her, obviously all alone, struggling through the rain with her walker, digging through filthy garbage cans just to feed her companion made me so sad. Is this what we have become, Canada?
