Arsenal have been told they must pay £25 million to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata this summer, according to reports in Spain cited by The Metro. 21-year-old Morata, who joined Los Blancos from local rivals Getafe in 2008, is one of European footballs brightest young talents but is evidently struggling to find a consistent role in the clubs extremely impressive attacking set-up. With the divisive figure of Karim Benzema appearing to thrive alongside the considerable threats of Cristiano Ronaldo and summer signing Gareth Bale, Morata - who boasts an extraordinarily good goalscoring record for Spains U21 team - has been limited to just 13 appearances in La Liga so far this season. Such a lack of regular action has seen Morata linked with a move away from Real Madrid, with reports earlier this week suggesting that Arsenal were looking to resurrect a January move for the player and that they had already sounded out his representatives. Just whether Arsenal will be willing to pay £25 million to sign Morata, however, remains to be seen. Although Arsene Wenger is most definitely in desperate need of an addition to his forward line with Nicklas Bendtners contract due to expire at the end of the season and Lukas Podolski the subject of reported transfer interest from Serie A giants Inter Milan, the Frenchman - Mesut Ozil deal aside - has not exactly been renowned for lavishing exorbitant sums of money on new players in recent seasons.
