As Cowboy fans, when we lose, we have to listen to a weeks worth of negativity. Yes, I know that there are plenty of things to be upset about after yesterdays loss.. Dropped balls, penalties, injuries, absolutely no defense, no 3rd down conversions by our offense. But as most of you probably know by now, I am an extremely optimistic and positive Cowboy fan who bases all of my opinions on facts and statistics, and Ive noticed that many people who follow my page are the same way. So rather than focusing on the negative things that happened, which were going to hear a lot about for these next 2 weeks, Im going to share all of the positive things that happened. So without further ado, I give you.. Jordans Silver Lining - Tony Romos TD pass to Terrence Williams marks his 23rd consecutive game with a TD pass, extending his own franchise record. Tony also moved up to 38th all time in touchdown passes, 44th all time in completions, and 48th all time in passing yards. - SPECIAL TEAMS! If there is one thing Id have to pick for us to be optimistic about, it would be this unit. Lets start with Mr. Clutch, Dan Bailey. Bailey has made 11 consecutive FGs now. His last miss was in Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams. Bailey has made 4 of 5 FG attempts from 50+ yards this season, and is 6 of 6 on attempts between 40-49 yards. Dwayne Harris has arguably been our Special Teams MVP this season. Harris had another big kick return last night, and nearly broke away on a couple more. However, he doesnt only excel in returning, he is just as deadly in kick/punt coverage. Harris has made several key stops on ST, and came up big last night with a fumble recovery on a muffed punt in the 1st quarter. Harris has become one of the most feared Special Teams players in the NFL. On a side note, Harris become just the 6th player in franchise history to have over 1,000 career kick return yards and over 500 career punt return yards. Chris Jones wasnt too shabby either. With the Cowboys having to punt on pretty much every single drive, Jones got plenty of work. He didnt disappoint though. Multiple times, Jones pinned the Saints inside their own 20 and 15, and he did so from the other side of the field. He was delivering booming punts all night, but unfortunately our defense wasnt able to keep the Saints no matter where they started their drives from. On top of all of that, the Cowboys also recovered an onside kick recovery. Rookie LB Cameron Lawrence was the one who fell on the ball. That play was huge for the Cowboys, even though the offense followed it up with a 3 & out. Still, it put us in great position to get back in the game. - It is never a good sign when Dez Bryant is only targeted twice in an entire game.. However, Dez made the most of his opportunity when it came. Dezs lone catch of the night was a thing of beauty. Dez was running deep, with two guys right behind him, Romo delivered the ball where only Dez could get it. At first, the ball bounced out of Dezs hands and looked like it would fall incomplete, but Dez jumped forward and pulled it in on his 2nd effort. Great awareness and body control by Dez. With that catch, Dez passed T.O. (3,587) for 9th in franchise history in receiving yards (3,620). - Demarcus Ware clearly wasnt himself last night, but Ware still showed us that he is an elite pass rusher, and that he is one tough dude. Ware could barely put weight on his leg, yet he still managed to come up with a sack and later delivered a big hit on Brees which forced the ball to fall incomplete. Even injured, Ware came up with our biggest plays on defense all night. - DeMarco Murray scored his 4th TD of the season last night, matching his career high. Murray also broke away for a big run for the 2nd consecutive week. It was clear that the Cowboys wanted to pound the ball, and they did so early on, but after falling behind, they were forced to abandon it. Still, Murray had a productive night and reminded us of how dangerous he can be when hes healthy. - After hauling in his 5th TD of the season, Terrence Williams continues to have one of the best rookie seasons that the Cowboys have seen in quite some time. Continues to exceed expectations. Currently leads all rookie WRs in yards and TDs. - With his 2 receptions, Jason Witten moved to 19th in NFL history in career catches, with 853. Witten now also has at least 1 catch in 80 consecutive games, which is 2nd only to Michael Irvin (117) in franchise history. - The Bye Week comes at the perfect time. Jason Hatcher, who this team desperately missed last night, Miles Austin, JJ Wilcox, DeVonte Holloman and Morris Claiborne are all expected to return. The severity of Justin Durant and Sean Lees injuries will be determined today, but hopefully both of them will return as well. This bye week will also give the team an extra 7 days to think about this loss. This is going to eat at them and theyre going to be angry and more motivated than ever. These guys are competitors and they hate to lose, especially like they did last night. Theyre embarrassed and are going to want to bounce back after the Bye. This team is going to be fired up. - And last, but not least, the Dallas Cowboys still hold onto first place in the NFC East. The Eagles are tied, with a 5-5 record, but the Cowboys own the tiebreaker after beating the Eagles a few weeks ago. After the Bye, the Cowboys will fly to New York to take on the Giants, giving them a chance to pull further ahead in the division race. Our destiny is still in our hands. Keep your head up, Cowboys Nation! We still have plenty to be excited about!
