As I have mentioned in previous posts, my work schedule has changed and has made it more difficult for me to make it as regularly to both my AA meetings and crossfit. The adjustment period has been a learning experience in itself, as I learn more about balance of self care and responsibilities. The biggest lesson here for me though has been to always remember to reach out when I need to. A few weeks ago I had been without a meeting for some time and when I spoke up about my concern, I had several people pull together for me at once. They arranged a midnight meeting in a park near a church and I got to go after work- it was amazing to have such immediate support. Today when I went into my box after a week or so away, people noticed- they were asking why, how Ive been and they were genuinely happy to see me there. When I explained about my work schedule, I had friends offer to meet me during open time before my split shifts start this week. I am once again in awe of the support that came right away. The moral of the story: I am not alone, people want to help. Reach out when I feel disconnected. The support is always there. Rachel H
