As I sat and watched my wife give our testimony this weekend, I was reminded of how easy it is to get caught up in what you dont have and completely lose gratitude in what you do have. My heart is filled with so much gratitude and the gratitude Im talking about in the words of Ravi Zacharias, is not sporadic or a momentary spurt of blood rushing into the blood vessels and then with equal force, sprints and disappears into a faint memory as it it replaced by other emotions. The gratitude I feel in my heart cannot be exhausted. It is the transformation of a mind that is more grateful for the Giver than for the gift, for the purpose than for the present. It values relationship rather than any benefit made by the relationship. It is the capacity to receive rather than the gift itself, to trust even when the moment seems devoid of immediate fulfillment. What a powerful reminder as thanksgiving approaches. We are extremely grateful to the Giver of life.
