As I stopped at a gas station this morning, I went in to get a cup - TopicsExpress

As I stopped at a gas station this morning, I went in to get a cup of coffee. I glanced over and saw this newspaper article. A call for a new change. Speaking on the controversial Stand your ground law. This law definitely needs revising or taken off the books. These days I try to read with a more open mind. I try to read outside of my socially, and environmentally, conditioned Black eyes. While right is right, and wrong is wrong. There are many perspectives to whats right and wrong. So I asked my Dad; When you see this article, what do you see? He stared at it for a little bit. Because he understood he was being tested lol. Then he said Blacks crying out for injustice, again. And law changes. I said thats exactly what most black people would see here. Then I pointed to the far right of the page: 1 killed, 4 wounded in shooting in Murray Hill. I said when people outside of our socially and conditioned environments see this. They get confused at why we would be so upset over one portion of the page, and fail to mention the other portion. Its not dumbing down what happened. Many whites, and others, cried out for injustice and anger at the incomplete verdict of Michael Dunn, And at the acquittal of George Zimmerman. But they wonder Why cant they see the whole page here? The far right side of the page has been happening, in a high proportions, in Jacksonville for decades. And its increasing. Yes there should be a change in the law. But even if that law changes, should the other mute frequent side continue to be left unaddressed? I could be next. That gets killed and someone goes free under the stand your ground law...absolutely. And thats horrible. But who will be next Today? Who was next last night? Please understand that there is no separating from whites, or dividing the issue and making it a black problem and seeing progress. Many White parents see a murdered black teen and heart breaks just as much. Just like I know blacks see white kids who get senselessly murdered, and hearts breaks just as much. Please understand that the value of black life is not defined in a courtroom. Its not defined by the law. Its defined by the people. And many people dont separate value based off of skin complexion. We have to see through many eyes, to see progress.
