As I was talking with my husband last night about how much I - TopicsExpress

As I was talking with my husband last night about how much I enjoyed and truly loved teaching it caused me to reflect on how I arrived to this place. Years ago I went through a teacher training program that lasted 2 months over a summer. There were different teachers and each teacher brought something new for the participants to learn. However, from the very beginning an article was given titled “Teaching Tip of the Month”. Whoever wrote this “tip” most likely did not know this would be a constant reminder for me as I prepare for various classes. I will not share the entire article right now but just a few sentences that have stuck with me through the past 6 years as I have taught and have been a student. My goal as a teacher is to be one of those good teachers and as I work towards that keeping these verses first as I study has been very helpful. I hope these are as beneficial to others as they have been to me!! “Good Bible classes are an important key to unity, growth, and zeal in a local church. Such classes give Christians the opportunity to practice “speaking truth in love” (Eph 4:15). A teacher has the obligation of promoting edifying discussion in an effort to jointly discover as many truths and applications to truths as is possible in any given text.” ...Good teachers know that such self-discovery increases enthusiasm and learning. Further, teachers with a purpose understand that they are in the business of equipping the saints (Eph 4:11-12).
