As I was thinking about Mother’s Day when I decided to look it up in Wikipedia to see what they had to say about it. I read “Mothers Day is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.” Now I know most of us are thinking about our own Mothers as we should, but in reading this, Paula Rowell of the Friendship House came to my mind. I have been working for the mission for many years, and have watch how Paula works, loves, and cares of each individual woman that steps inside the doors of Friendship House. I have heard many of the women call her mom, even if that woman is close in age to Paula. Paula truly does bond with these women, and brings a little bit of home life in their lives. A home life they might not have felt in a very long time. I would like to take this time to wish Paula Rowell a Happy Mother’s Day, and to thank her for the great work she does at Friendship House.
