As I was waking this morning, I heard the longing of everything to be seen. The stones, the dirt, the plants, everything is alive, everything is made of nothing other than what i am. There is no OBJECT anywhere, other than our fossilized concepts, our Newtonian ideals of earth. This material that we call matter is our very aliveness, it is made of breath. Maybe I should say that I can feel everything breathing. And I mean that very literally. As I sat for some time this morning, I could feel the inhale and exhale of everything. My body simply being a variation of the multiplicity of all that has form or is form. And I felt the loneliness of matter due possibly to our neglect of its sensitive being. Not only do children need us to be present as Presence, so do the stones, the soil, the air, the animals. The fish in the water are the water, it is the way the water can know itself. The birds in the air are the air, they are how air feels its rhythms. The air longs for birds to remind it what its nature is. And what are we humans if not love longing to remind It what its Presence is? There is healing in our kiss to the soil. The asphalt drive way is not dead matter, it is alive longing for the touch of our feet. We are Gods birds reminding Him/Her of the eternal light, we are Gods fish reminding Him/Her of infinite potential. The way flowers blossom forth the beauty latent in the rose thorn, we are invited to display the Divine Love latent in every human sorrow and madness. This Christmas morning, I welcome the Christ, the great eternal treasure of all treasures that you are to receive this love, for that is what you are. To know, even faintly or briefly, this all consuming Isness of Love makes even the greatest human gains and achievements seem like cheap tinsel. We are the Premadasa, the servants of Divine Love to each other and to all that appears as pure manifestations of That.
