As Liesl H. said.......you cant judge a book by its cover. That was a good description when I stopped and took a mini tour of the Hobson Library. To view the library from the outside, the unfamiliar eye would suspect they are looking at a well kept small home. (which it was at one time) But when I walked thru the front door I was amazed with the library and its size. The Friends of the Hobson Library, a group of Hobson citizens assembled to establish a library in Hobson, have done a remarkable job with their library! Librarian Jennifer Hammontree indicated they have 8000 titles on the shelves and a substantial audio library to augment the inventory. As Jennifer and Liesl walked me through the library, it gave a comfortable feeling of a home away from home with an atmosphere that lends itself to reading that good book! And while the trend with libraries and bookstores is to have a small coffee shop, I suspect the Hobson Library is probably the only library to have a hair stylist occupying one room. While touring the facility, Deb Hajenga was busy with a haircut. Check out their web page at HobsonLibrary.org. Prior to the library tour I had dinner at the Hobson Senior Center. Gary prepared a turkey dinner and topped it off with angel food cake and ice cream. I think the chef has spoiled the senior membership there. Conversations spanned the gamut from families in the area, past and present, to the feasibility of a cattle processing plant, and onto trucking. Next: How about those Cubbies!!! A campaign experience Ill never forget!
