As Politicians and Businessmen Debate the Merits of more Massive Transcontinental Pipelines It seems every day we have another oil leak. This Last Saturday a Leaking Enbridge pipeline spilled approx 750 Barrels of Crude oil or 119,240 liters. Unfortunately, this oil Reached two Local Water Ways, Causing Contamination. The truly Scary Part However, is that the Pipeline had been shut down only within Minutes of the Alarm Warning. This Particular Pipeline Transports 1.2 million Barrels of Oil Per Day. Less than Half of all Pipeline Stations have Emergency Shut Off Valves. I can barley Imagine the Environmental Damage had they not had an Emergency Shut Off Valve. 1.2 million Barrels of Oil Per Day! Are we Really so Careless with our Environment? Not Surprisingly only Hours after the Fort McMurray spill Another Pipeline Rupetured 25 KM North of Little Buffalo, in which Approximately 5,000 liters of oil liked into lake Muskeg. It seems almost every day we here about another Oil Spill. Since 1965 there have been 61 000 oil spills in Alberta alone! Yet this Conservative Government Has been Tirelessly Attempting to De-regulate this Industry from Environmental Protections. If you ask me, the Destruction of the Canadian Environment will be the Most Damning Piece of the Harper Legacy.
