As a citizen of the United States, I hereby exercise the first amendment right. Define me as controversial, that’s your opinion, you may go ahead and exercise your right too. After following the Zimmerman’s trial closely, it is inevitable that this 17 year old innocent black teenager who just went to the store to buy a skittle and a soda was profiled based on his race. I am by no means playing the race card, but we need to stop sweeping racial profiling under the rug. I am sick and tired that our hard working black men are too frequently subjected to profiling based on the color of their skin and not the content of their character. I can personally attest to racial profiling geared to my family. A few years ago my grieving husband who had just lost his baby son, went to the cemetery after a hard day at work to visit his son’s grave. After leaving the cemetery, he was profiled for over two miles, he was then stopped by the cop and asks what was he doing on that road; he was not stopped for just cause. My husband is a hardworking, highly intellectual, and compassionate partner who works for an honest living and should never be treated prejudicially. Minorities goes through this every day , it is sad when your husband, your son, your brother, your uncle, your cousins, sometimes even yourself worries about being targeted and judged unjustly whenever you step through your front door. If you judge people, you have no time to love them. Never judge a man’s actions until you know his motives. I hope our judicial system make the right decision, and hopefully Trayon’s parents will get justice for their son’s death. Whatever the verdict may be guilty or not guilty, the outcome is the same, a grieving mother and father will never see their son again because of the negligent action of a wanna be cop that could have been avoided :- (
