As a concerned indigent of Okigwe zone extraction, I have taken time to evaluate all the senatorial aspirants, including Prof. Nnamdi Obiareri, One arm General, Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu and Mazi Clement Owunna. From my research and findings, I was able to make a didactic choice based on Societal will, Efficiency, Developmental abilities, Truthfulness, Zeal to work, Trust and Godliness. However, it’s a shame that most of our politicians abandon those who voted them to office after winning elections, this has never brought development to any land. In our own case (Okigwe zone), its very pathetic to witness a complete 15Years of dubious hooligans make away with Federal allocations meant for our zone. The most annoying one, is the one who will sleep through out Senate sessions in ABJ and return to call us his people, are we fools??? Based on my research modalities which centered on the zeal to better the lives of indigents of this marginalized zone, I took scorecards of each aspirant. Among all of them, Mazi Owunna Clement Peter came first. His foresight in development and managerial strides is second to none. This is displayed in his four(4) points agenda Brief history of Mazi Clement Peter Owunna Mazi Clement Owunna, MFR, serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Starline Nigeria Ltd. Mr. Owunna serves as Executive Chairman of Petsow Laboratories Ltd. He served as Non-Executive Director of Diamond Bank Plc since 2000 until July 2012. He serves as a Member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria and Harvard Business School Association of Nigeria. He is a Fellow of Nigerian Institute of Management and a Recipient of the National Award of Member of the Federal Republic. Mr. Owunna is a graduate of Drake College of Pharmacy, Iowa, USA. He is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School and J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and Marketing, North Western University, Illinois. OWUNNA’S 4 POINTS AGENDA AGRICULTURE HEALTH EDUCATION INDUSTRY AGRICULTURE Mazi Owunna, who is a great lover of the products of the farm, has strategised ways in which the “dwarf and giant” of Okigwe zone will benefit from Agriculture cum his election in 2015. He disclosed this to Okigwe zonal students association when they paid a courtesy visit to his residence in Umulolo, Okigwe. He said that he has collected soil samples from each L.G.A and have sent them to the laboratory where the variety of crops that will grow better, will be determined. This bold step of his was aimed at eradicating the stress and providing a lasting solution to the problems encountered by peasant farmers who go as far as Portharcourt and Lagos looking for good variety(ies) of plant species and fertilizers to enhance its growth. INDUSTRY To the best of my knowledge, Mazi Owunna took over the mantle of leadership of StarLine companies in 1990 and has since then, spawned the company into a model. His gallantry strides in industrialization has made him a household name in Nigeria and West Africa. He’s gifted with entrepreneurial success-spirit which makes his company and products outstanding. Okigwe zone being a marginalized zone for more than a decade, can revamp its plummeting industrial revolution when people like Clement take power. Industrializing our zone will help us all gain employments, get loans, expertise in fields, practice our skills and develop our zone generally. HEALTH As an elite Pharmacist, who loves the “vision” of people, is planning a mega deal on health matters. He already played host/sponsor to an eye referral treatment that held sometime this year. He promises to bring to our zone, a hospital that will ameliorate the fees paid in having most eye operations such as cataract, glaucoma etc to Okigwe zonal indigents. This feat, when achieved will make him the foremost to achieve such in Nigeria. EDUCATION Wise men often say “education is the only investment that gives you profit even when you’re dead” Unknown. Mazi Clement has given us, Okigwe zonal students the opportunity to jump to the roof. His immense contribution to education saw him immortalized to the recreational park of IMO state university. He solely paid an outstanding debt in sum of 12million monthly for 14 solid months. He did this to bridge the lapses in education in IMO state university. As a pro-chancellor, he was dedicated to his duty, marshaling out good tidings anywhere he touched. He aided in the rehabilitation of Commassie, a theatre arts complex in Imsu
