As a mother of girls and boys, teenager, preteens and little ones. There comes a time that as a parent you wish you could skip. For a good amount of weeks Ive been dealing with several school meetings, school phone calls and numerous child and parent heart breaking moments. I am no one to be telling you how to raise your child or children. I am a concern parent who wishes to give her opinion. Its unbelievable how much bullying and inappropriate advances goes on within students and how the schools are handling these students making those actions. (In elementary schools) Very sad and infuriating! Boys need to be thought about boundaries and respect when it comes to girls. I understand...curiosity or crushes, BUT thats where us as parents come in. It is NOT the schools responsibility. We need to be teaching them since young so that we can avoid ALL these issues that are happening in schools! If there normal behavior toward girls is disrespectful...whats gonna make you think he will respect his mother or his future wife. Maybe him himself is dealing with something you had no clue about. Dont get me wrong, this goes to girls aswell. Unfortunately it happens more with the boys on the bully side. No means no, but explain why. So that they actually understand! Every kid will go through changes, some way earlier than others and this is a time a child worries and is trying to understand what the hell is going on with their body and feelings and they should NOT worry about other kids behaving SO INAPPROPRIATE. Yes, it is bound to happen but maybe with a little more communication and understanding with our kids, maybe just maybe this bad issues might minimize. I sure talk to my boys...especially my oldest son. I honestly do not wanna to be a parent who gets that phone call that her son is being disrespectful and making inappropriate touches to a fellow student! It starts at home and it ends at home. No parent is perfect but we try. No child is perfect but we still love them. Everything we do is for them...why not push harder when it comes to respect. Its something that will stay with them forever. You can only shelter them for so long...why not make them prepared. I could sure go on and on about it but Ill just leave it at that.
