As a thought experiment, imagine that every time you walked - TopicsExpress

As a thought experiment, imagine that every time you walked somewhere, there were coins on the ground. And even as much as 20% of the time, the coins were actual money and you could spend them, okay cool, thats pleasant. Man isnt it awesome theres all these nice coins on the street? But lets say that at least and maybe even more than 50% of the time the coins had no value at all, they were Canadian, or tokens for an arcade across town that only has Rise of the Robots or plinko machines or something like that. Ugh, such annoying coins. But, okay, I mean theres still a good chance that well get the ones that are pleasant, so, okay, harmless I guess. Sucks that the useless ones are there, but I guess its no big deal. Okay, but then like, what if another 20% of the coins had no value, but insisted they did, and actually made it frustrating for you to walk by them on the street, like theyd be super hot when you tried to pick them up or theyd take time off the meter so youd get a parking ticket, and when you didnt want to use them theyd call you nasty names and slurs and stuff and you actually felt a little afraid of them? And then what if there was even like a 5-10% chance that the coins would pull their dick out, grope you, or even rape you? If all those coins looked exactly the same, would you still feel like Hey some of those coins are money though! or how much more likely would you be to go I hope theres no coins on the street today. Thats why I think its important that the catcalling video does show instances where people are being perfectly friendly and not harassing her at all. A lot of people are saying Not all of these are abuse. And youre totally right, but youre looking at a tree and not a forest. I dont think shes saying theyre all abuse, I think shes just showing the spectrum of comments she gets in a given time period. And the point is, look how quickly it can go from just a hello to someone being legit threatening and how all the guys seem equally as fine with their behavior as it happens. But weve gotten to a point where socially, a huge chunk of people see no difference between Hi and I like that ass. .
