As a transitional housing program which provides residence and support services to 24 families, we see first-hand the impact homelessness has on children. Staff members work with both mothers and their children one-on-one and in groups through many of the social, emotional, and developmental issues that the children have when they move in and the direct correlation to their past environments and experiences. One thing we know for certain is that children benefit a great deal from the time they spend at Thames River Family Program where they are safe and where they have stability.
