As a young boy growing up in Jaffna, I received my primary school - TopicsExpress

As a young boy growing up in Jaffna, I received my primary school education in a Christian school. The teachers impressed upon me in religious classes that the Hindu Gods were all evil devils. We were told when passing the Hindu temples to spit and swear at the evil images. -Pandit K.N. Navaratnam I dont speak on this often. As Americans, we are often unaware of the missionary practices in the rest of the world. These practices are not the same as the way the services are done in American churches. Instead of congregations of like minded-people all worshipping together, like churches in the US, missions in India have the primary goal of re-educating youth. Taking them away from their cultural and ancestral traditions, making them change names, clothing, and reject their parents heritage in the name of salvation, and using money and food as leverage in exchange for conversion. Similar to tactics used that led to the near destruction of Native American culture, these same methods are being employed in Asia. I am not Anti-Christian in any way. As a Hindu, it is my duty to respect the paths of others. However I urge people of all religions and nationalities to stand for ethics, and stand against any underhanded methods of conversion and cultural sabotage. Every day there are stories I hear from friends and associates I have in India and abroad about these practices, and this information has been presented in countless articles....though rarely is it in the Western news cycle, for obvious reasons.
