As expected, Transdev are going to attempt to takeover operation of Wellingtons suburban train service from 2016. They will be entering a joint bid to operate both Auckland and Wellington, as both networks are due for contract tender renewal from 1 July 2016. Any other bidders, including Tranz Metro, will likely need to bid for both as well in order to match the price, as there will be some economies of scale with a joint bid.
