As far as Im aware, shooting in raw means your camera does almost nothing to the raw data captured by the sensor, whereas when not shooting in raw most cameras make adjustments for you (highlights, shadows, saturation, noise reduction etc.) So if thats true: I wonder how many people realize that the act of post-processing a photo by a raw-shooter is necessary in order to level the playing field with photographs processed by the camera itself. In other words - We dont process our photos to Turn a bland photo into a good one, we do it to complete the same essential process that happens when people shoot in jpeg, except were exercising more control over the process and applying some of our own thoughts about how the photo should look.
