As i sit here reflecting on the eve of the anniversary of 9/11/01, I think back on how scared I was when i witnessed from my 7th floor window at 375Pearl St . the Verizon Bldg near the brooklyn bridge the carnege unfolding before my very eyes. I witnessed live the 2nd plane hitting the WTC and felt my building shake for a second, I grabbed my purse and ran down the 7 flights to a stunned city. so silent, so errie, so many people in shock just looking up at the burning bldgs. We stared, we cried, we as a city in droves walked off the island over the bridges to what we hoped was safety. I remember it took me about 3 hrs to get home and the first thing i did was kiss the ground in front of my house then my neighbor Bob. My answering machine was full to the max with frantic friends and relatives wanting to know if I was ok...Yes I was ok, in the flesh but never in my mind again. I still to this day almost feel like I am getting a panic attack that morning just like i did that day walking over the Manhattan bridge and seeing a tower collapse behind me not knowing if the bridges were the next target. RIP all who perished that day and I certainly know I will never forget....Fran (Francis Jude Feely) i have my little memorial ready outside on my stoop in memory of you and all the others, for you a lit candle and etched glass WTC, a Mets hat, your beer cosy with a beer in it of course,an angel statue and of course our American Flag.
