As if it wasnt bad enough Paul Hollywood (celebrity baker if you please) saying he doesnt buy all this gluten-free fad we now have a doctor (Sarah Jarvis, a BBC TV breakfast show and One Show regular) apparently stating on the Jeremy Vine show that Coeliac disease is an allergy which causes inflammation of the intestine!!!!! Its an auto-immune disease and she should bloody well know that. It doesnt cause inflammation of the intestine, it destroys the lining of it. Its linked to type 1 diabetes, thyroid malfunction, rheumatoid arthritis and other auto-immune conditions. If allowed to continue unchecked it can lead to serious illness and increases the risk of cancer amongst other things. We sufferers have a hard enough time being taken seriously without trained GPs spouting such misinformed nonsense. Would she tell someone with Crohns disease or MS that they have an allergy??
