As long as Ilonggo businessmen keep on signing manifestos - TopicsExpress

As long as Ilonggo businessmen keep on signing manifestos declaring their support for Frank Drilon, Iloilos economy will forever be characterized by crony capitalism. It will continue to be dependent on largesse from politicians who favor businessmen in dispensing government projects not necessarily to perk up the local economy but to serve selfish interests beneficial to both politicians and their cronies. Iloilo City now is buoyed by an economic bubble that is primarily inflated by pork barrel funds from Senator Drilon. The problem is, once this political largesse dries up, the bubble will automatically burst, leaving the local economy high and dry. This is not good in the long run because it is not sustainable. Although we cannot blame these Ilonggo businessman for signing these manifestos at gunpoint, they are still not serving any logical purpose in declaring support for any political persona as ephemeral as the wet and dry seasons that define our tropical climate. To avoid being nonsensical, they can consider declaring support for truth instead that can arise from any Senate investigation, not from the figments of their imagination or any form of bias in favor of their political benefactor.
