As many of you know, The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee is a supporting partner to Global Sanctuary for Elephants and Ecopolis in their efforts to provide sanctuary to “Ramba,” the last remaining circus elephant in Chile. Today, Ramba is no longer living on a concrete slab the size of a two-car garage, kept by people who were fined for abuse and animal trafficking. She is now grazing and frolicking in the mud on 2.5 acres at a temporary facility in central Chile while Elephant Sanctuary Brazil (where Ramba will eventually reside in sanctuary) is under development. During this time of transition, we’ve been helping Global Sanctuary and Ecopolis to provide Ramba with a second chance and an opportunity for a forever home with elephant companionship.
