As many of you may recall, i was arrested last February on the way to a free show that ÆthENOth, the last band for whom i played drugms, was supposed to play at the Bottletree. i had two warrants out on mi, simply for UNPAid tRAffiC tiCkEtS. Thus i was hANdCUffEd and hauled off to the 6th Avenue jail where i got to spend the night and then most of Valentines Day sitting in a wheelchair (they took mi cane coz it could be a WEAPON) in Cellblock C with all mi dangerous criminal cohorts.... Since, at that time, i had absolutely NO WAY of paying the fines and court costs, now there is ANOthER writ of arrest out for mi, or at least i must assume so, because thats waht the sheet of paper they gave mi after i appeared before her honor said would happen if i didnt pay the fines and court costs and all that by wahtever day in May it was all due. Now, a year-and-a-half later, i can fiNALLY do something about it, except that i still cant legally drive, obviously. i called to find out how much i owe Our (un)Fair City, and the lady to whom i spoke just said Youll have to come in. Uh-oh.... So there are any number of things that might happen when i go there, according to waht friends have related to mi of their own experiences with this same sort of thing: 1. theyll just take mi money and give mi a receipt. 2. theyll arrest mi and process mi onsite, and take MORE money from mi. 3. theyll arrest mi and take mi all the way over to the 6th Avenue jail, print and photograph mi AGAiN, make mi post bail or wahtever i hafta do, then (hopefully) take mi back to the Vann bldg, take WAAAAAY MORE money from mi, and finally let mi go. 4. #3, but with another court date on top of it, which would be pretty much the absolute worst-case scenario. i would like to get all this taken care of as soon as humanly possible. id take the bus, but theres nothing about the bus that screams as soon as humanly possible. And cabs are prohibitively expensive -- id rather give a friend gas money and take that person to lunch. So thats waht this is all about -- wondering if someone might be able to tootle mi downtown sometime in the VERY VERY near future (maybe even tomorrow?), and help mi get this done? Like, kinda early just in case it goes as horribly bad as numbers 3 or 4...? Sadly, thats not even all i have to do prior to legally driving again. After paying off the city, ill need to: 1. Purchase vehicular insurance. 2. Get mi tag renewed, since you CANt without proof of #1. 3. Jump-start the car, since its been sitting still for MONthS. 4. Take it iMMEdiAtELY to a gas station, hoping i dont run out of fuel on the way there (or buy another gas can again first). 5. bE fREEEEEEE!!! Im not asking to do ALL of that in one day, just the city payoff. also, if anyone has any suggestions as to decent and/or cheap car insurance that would be a great help. once again, i thank you all in advance.
