As of this week, I am in the midst of campaigning to become a youth member of parliament for my local constituency. This is a role which I believe I am very well suited to and could potentially fulfil very successfully. So a little bit about what an MYP is and what I am trying to do: The Youth Parliament is an official organisation which is lead by the county council. This organisation is the ONLY other officially recognised group, of which, make an influence to your government on a bigger scale, with the help of actual MPs and annual debates held in the houses of commons. Im currently a year 11 student at Lynn Grove high school. I am campaigning to become the local MYP for numerous reasons, but to put it simply...I am passionate about the opportunities and impact that our generation can make in the future, and being a student myself, I am very aware of common issues that arise coming from a small town such as a lack of job opportunities etc. By taking on this role, I would form as a platform of mediation between the youth generation locally, allowing me to make regular interactions to identify important concerns, issues and recommendations of improvements of the youth of today, and by working alongside other MYPs, would be able to develop plans of actions and potentially address these issues in no other than the Houses of Parliament! I would be the right person for the role as I have always had an active role in many similar school societies such as the school council, and with my duties as deputy head girl of my school. I am outgoing, determined and passionate; and truly want to step up to the job. So basically...what I am trying to do is to promote myself, as this week is the vote week. I need to gain as many votes as possible in order to be the successful candidate.
