As of yesterday - 28% or more than double the 13% reported in Aug 3. 13% in first 18 days but 28% in Aug 11. Thats 1.88% per day or more than double versus the 0.76% in the first 18 days. The remaining 74% will be finished at 39 days at 1.88% per day esp with APRI now helping. I am seeking out EDC and MMDA this week. As secular authorities, we have been constantly pressuring a private company- Apec to quicken the pace of restoration since July 16 during the first meeting of the reconstruction committee called PAGERR. Since then, 1. we have asked Apec to increase the number of restoration teams from 10 to 21 and to 33. But we have not reached 23 2. we asked NEA Admin Bueno, through and DOE Sec Ikot, ES Ochoa and Sec. Almendras, to send 16 teams to assist under NEA Taskforce Kapatid 3. We asked Meralco to assist and they sent 10 teams 4. We asked Aboitiz for help and today their 4 teams have arrived. But, all of these external assistance would have to be at the control of Apec since they are operating the Distribution Utility. We share the frustration and impatience amongst many but we can not join the screaming and shouting because it will not get us anywhere. On the other hand, the best way to confront such impatience and frustration is to to help Apec do their job even if its already privately owned. But, let me also state for the record that even my very own house is still without power and it is only in Penafrancia, Daraga. In 2006, power was restored in 17 days in Polangui after Reming using the island mode. This time NGCP was able to reconnect in 3 days. The locality to be connected was Manito in 4 months. Glenda was a major storm 150-180kph for 8 straight hours which trounced even trees like BU Centree which survived Reming and Milenyo. I will not ask for understanding but I will just reassure you that I am doing my darnednestness to get power back so our economy can roar back to life, our students can study in better conditions and our families can bond better at home.
