As our hearts break for the death of Leelah Alcorn - and as we are inspired by her incredibly moving words - we should remember that suicide is not an inevitable response to oppression, it is not a response to be lionized and emulated, and no matter how bad things get, there is support to be found somewhere. Absolutely, we should celebrate Leelahs life and identity and hear her cry for compassion. Yes, we are all called to fix society. In the meantime, please, care for each other, and yourself.
