As our students have been hard at work preparing for tomorrows - TopicsExpress

As our students have been hard at work preparing for tomorrows Honduran Independence Day parade, the Northamericans in our midst and abroad may ask why? Why do we work so hard for this? Here is our answer... love for this culture. When we truly invest ourselves in the culture, we begin to love some of the traditions that they love. On the surface, it is easy for Northamerican eyes to question why a family or a school would spend money to dress their children up to march for Independence Day. Some people may even ask what is this doing for the cause of Christ? As we have gotten more and more involved this year, we see the expression of talent, the cultural pride that is displayed. We want to celebrate the beautiful things about the culture right alongside of our students. When we show that we truly love the culture of our students, it further builds trust and allows us to earn a voice to speak into their lives. Foreign missionaries do not just enter a culture and deserve a voice ... we have to show ourselves to be worthy of trust and confidence. Just a few words for a Sunday morning. Keep your eyes open for pictures tomorrow... the IVA band, color guard and baton troupe is on the move!
