As parents we face different struggles everyday, and most of the time it is something we look back at and realize how minor it might have been. When you are given a challenge that involves your children whether it be health, behavior, or anything out of your normal, you pray that paternal instinct takes over and gets you through to the next part of your journey. It is almost a year ago that we rushed to the ER expecting a seizure or concussion diagnosis to only have our hearts ripped from our chests by the words, we found a large mass in his right temporal lobe and will need you to consult a neurologist right away. I actually reflected on that very moment earlier and told a family friend that it felt as if every organ in my body curled up and died. We dont have a plan right now... We just thank God everyday that even though our diagnosis is rare, symptomatic, and reoccurring, that it is benign. In this last year I have made so many new friends who dont have that same feeling, I have long time friends who are facing that first feeling I described from discovery of their childs diagnosis, and I cant tell you what to do or how to fix it. I just want to remind you of one thing though... You are strong, stronger than you know! You will dig deep until your heart turns to stone. That stone is made from all of the love that has been built over time, the love you felt since the first moment you touched their soft skin, the love that melted your heart staring into their newborn eyes and smelling that newborn smell. That stone heart is not a bad thing... It is your shield and armor in the battle you are preparing to fight because there is no one stronger than a mother or father!
