As people possibly know, after Oct 1, paper tax discs for your vehicles will be abolished. In future you will have to pay by direct debit, either monthly, or 6 monthly (what people without bank accounts will do is unknown). Also, tax will be no longer transferable if you sell your vehicle - you have to let DVLA know immediately (or be liable for a fine of up to £1000) it is sold. For this service an extra 5% will be added, so, if (for example) you are currently paying £100 for 6 months tax, that will rise to £105. This rip-off is to make even bigger profits for Capita who operate systems at the DVLA (they also are in charge of the TV licence & many authorities council tax collections). Capita are a company who, in the early 90s, operated out of space on an industrial estate in Beckenham and suddenly went to being a huge outfit - donations to the Tory party may have helped! Another example of rip-off Britain, making life harder for those who do not have bank accounts and have no access to the internet.
