As the battle is set to start in the Abia Gubernatorial race, - TopicsExpress

As the battle is set to start in the Abia Gubernatorial race, there is no better time for Abians to show deep circumspection than now. Our dear state is enmeshed in deep crisis. Since creation, Abia has had the very unfortunate luck of being presided over by men who lack the understanding of what leadership truly means. I say this without any fear of equivocation. From the first Military Administrator to the current Governor, we are yet to have a proper leader. Forget political rants, even people who are in these governments know that the performance is way below par but they must continue to defend their government and at least put food on the tables of their families. The result of this poverty of leadership abound all over the place....in the form of heaps of refuse, decayed infrastructure, a despondent citizenry, a confused and thieving leadership that amasses wealth while the people groan under unbelievable living conditions, decayed infrastructure, impassable roads, complete lack of planning...I could go on and on. The foundation of bad leadership laid by Orji Uzor Kalu has continued to haunt the state in the last 16 years. The people of Abia State have never had it so bad.....Aba looks like one abandoned refuse dump with ALL....I repeat, ALL roads in Aba in a very terrible condition. Civil servants are owed backlogs of salaries and allowances. The Abia State Polytechnic and the state University workers groan under unpaid salaries. Yet we still jump up and down celebrating a massive failure of leadership. May God forgive us all. Now, another chance is here....to correct, to at least attempt to correct our mistakes and elect a proper leader with a functional brain. Take note that the next Governor cannot clear the mess we have now because its massive but he can lay a solid foundation for progress upon which successive governments can build on. All manner of people are in the race.....from merchants of petrol to hewers of wood.....from professional praise singers with no functional thinking faculties to anointed political sons.....they arena is full. From professional politicians with over bloated CVs of failure of thievery to bare faced criminals who simply want to come and steal.....they are getting set. My dear fellow citizens, the biggest mistake a people can make is to blindly elect a bad leader. The costs are usually too heavy. Our experience in the last 16 years is a clear example. On the index of development of infrastructure and manpower, Abia holds a record that shocks any discerning person. I urge each and every one of us to be guided by the common good for our people......our children.....our future as we choose who rules Abia from 2015. We must elect a sane Governor who genuinely wants to get the state working again. If we get it wrong this time, then.....then........its de ja vu!
