As the scriptures says,beware of false prophets,so we must be cautious..not everyone that says,Thus saith the Lord...speaks for God or in behalf of God. Even the so called miracle or vision never validates a man as a prophet. You have to know the genuine in order to know what is fancy or fake. Jesus said that you will know them by their fruits. A true prophet of God speaks & lives for God...youll see in him/her the character of Christ (fruits of the Spirit). A genuine prophet of God is sent by God to RESTORE,to bring people back to God...wether he speaks blessings or judgment---the purpose is to bring people back to the LORD...not to condemn but to bring people to repentance. I believe that the prime duty of a true prophet is to pioneer revival...to prepare the way of & for the Lord. Beware of a man who prophesy at his own will..a true prophet is not licensed to speak whatever he/she wants. Prophetic utterance is done with prophetic inspiration...that is being moved by the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit is the Author of genuine prophecy. Without the prophetic inspiration,even a genuine prophet will be as a false one.
