As this summer comes to a close, I have spent a lot of time reflecting on my experience as an Orientation Team Leader. This is something that I never imagined I would be doing. If you know me, I have never been a very good public speaker. In fact, speaking in front of others used to absolutely terrify me. I decided this was an aspect of myself that I wanted to improve and work on, and so my first semester of college I took a public speaking course. Fast forward almost a year later, and I have been giving this speech to 300+ incoming college students every week this summer. By no means am I an excellent public speaker; I know I still have my umms and tend to talk with my hands. I just want to encourage you, whoever you are that is reading this, to not be afraid to put yourself out there. Just because youre not good at something or feel that youre lacking in some aspect of yourself, doesnt mean that you cant work on it. I am so thankful that I have had this opportunity to encourage new Bulls to get involved and grow during their years in college. I am also thankful for all of the support that my orientation team gives me on a daily basis. Go Bulls!
