As we, Liberians celebrate our 167th Independence day, below is the poem I have written as my own way of saying happy Independence day Liberia: Poem Title: Happy Independence day Liberia Our independence day is here again For it only reminds us that When the trumpet of freedom was blown It took the sacrifices of great men When the music of sovereignty was turned on It took the courage of unselfish men When the Declaration of Independence was signed It took the services of patriotic men Whether or not some have been marginalized over the years We still have a nation that is worth sacrificing for Whether or not our people live in abject poverty We still have a nation that is worth defending Whether or not Ebola is gradually killing our people We still have a nation that is worth praying for A nation that we are proud ambassadors of Ambassadors that proudly honor the Red, White, Blue, And one star s flag wherever it waves Ambassadors that defend our nation against dangers Ambassadors that safeguard our peace and security On this wonderful day of July 26, Liberians proudly shout: Happy Independence day to our free land of liberty Happy Independence day to our beloved Mama Liberia.
