As we all converge to the great college for the Annual general meeting, OBs should deeply reflect on whether the training today in Namilyango is still relevant for the future professionals in the modern world. Way back in 1902, Bishop Hanlon pioneered European type of education at #NamilyangoCollege, in 1942 Fr. Doyle incorporated music in the school curriculum hence the Namilyango brass band…in the 50s Fr. Kuipers pioneered science education in Uganda and the same institute, he went further to introduce science education to the girl child (Prof Namboze had to relocate from Namagunga to Namilyango). Fast forward in 1998, Dr. Peregrine Kibuuka introduce computer education in the Uganda school curriculum and now is the routine country wide. OBs should note that education standards all over Africa have been set in Namilyango College over the past century. I look forward to seeing a Namilyango trained doctor able to play music, speak at least 2 international languages or better still competitive in sports. This I think will always the students at a competitive advantage in the modern world. The question is, how is Namilyango College positioned to prepare the students for the challenges of the 21st century of a self reliant innovative professional? Mutaawe Lubogo
