As we enjoyed the presence of the Lord this morning, Sunday, 9 June 2013, we received from Him. Our message title on this morning was the following: “The Lord has the ability to meet your needs”, Mark 8:6-8. In reflection we began our morning by thanking the Lord for his many blessings. We thanked Him for being Jehovah Jireh (The Lord will provide), we thanked Him for being Jehovah Rapha (The Lord that heals), and we thanked Him for being Jehovah Shalom (The Lord is Peace) – these were just a few of His names. As we gave Him thanks we reflected upon the fact that He had made ways for us in times past, and we had enough to know that He would continue to do the same, if we kept the faith. It was our understanding that Our God had the ability to meet all of our needs. As we went to our text we observed how the Lord was moved with compassion for the four thousand souls present; He was concerned about their need for food, and so He took seven loaves and gave thanks, and then He took a few small fish and did the same. The bible lets us know that all were satisfied and seven basketfuls of broken pieces were left over. Jesus met the need the four thousand, and the message to each of us was that if He did it for them, He can also meet our needs. Our three points were: 1) Despite the need, know that God can handle it, 2) God specializes in impossible situations, and 3) It is your little that He blesses to create much.
