As we have come to expect, Jon Stewart nails the zeitgeist regarding this murderous folly that is the Charlie Hebdo massacre. One thing I would add is that those who are of faith and/or religious should have the courage to realize that, like it or not, the roots of religious extremism is in the annals of everyday faith and relgion itself, therefore it is the responsibility of moderate, liberal, progressive peoples of faith/religion to address this. Atheists, non-theists, etc address toxic ideologies already through social and civic engagement, legislation, education, and so on....all of which are based in reason and rationality (warts and all). Simply put, we dont accept (nor have we been prsented with sound reasons to accept) your basic premises regarding reality. Weve chosen to move on from narratives rooted in the supernatural and engage in the messy, plural, but natural world. Your mess. You start to take responsibility for cleaning it up in a responsible manner (saying our version of religion X and/or its founding book is against this is to say and do nothing).
