As we honor Ciku on her birthday, I am reminded of the words of one Gaiti Daniel, that the tap of death has opened and taken the first member of the 2009 class, School of Law, Parklands Campus, it is our great prayer that this tap closes as per Gods will but over and above that we are called to a more sacred responsibility of ensuring justice for Ciku! We must retain the fire beyond the life of the emotions we are experiencing right now. The matter came up in Court yesterday and for reasons that still remain unclear, the accused did not take a plea. While it is not for us to speculate what the reasons may be, it leaves doubt in the minds of the bereaved and more so in the minds of those of us who have the benefit of some information regarding the accused. In as much as LSK has nominated an advocate to watch brief in the matter, we still feel that we need to get involved as well because I know for a fact that we have the finest litigators in this town from the 2009 class. When called upon, I urge us to take up the challenge gladly because this may present that one opportunity to serve God truly and finding fulfillment is seeing justice done!
