As with last year, let me take this opportunity to remind everyone that its not just the servicemen and women sacrificing for us. Its their families as well. I go to Ft. Bliss or Ft. Hood or Joint Base Lewis-McChord and other bases all the time and I see the spouses as much as those serving directly, dragging the kids into the store to get a book signed for a deployed soldier. And I see the kids - some who have only known their mothers or fathers for brief stints for all their lives, or through Skype. They never complain, but you can see the sacrifice theyre all making. So take a moment today to give a thought to those who serve and their families. Then take a moment to hope for day when no country needs an army, and Memorial Day is a tribute to a distant past.
