As you can imagine, we are so proud of Madi for the honor she received from the Daily Item. Thanks for all the nice messages and texts today to congratulate her, it really means alot! For those people who really know me, you know that my happy place in sitting in the bleachers watching my kids play sports. And for those who have seen me lately also know that my cheers have turned to lots of tears as we deal with the new focus for Madi as she recovers from surgery and makes a goal of being back on the field or court by next year. I still struggle with the thought of not seeing her on the court with her basketball team. I think about how hard she worked all summer long to be game ready for this year, for it to only last for 5 minutes. But just as I am struggling with the loss of this season, I know how there are worse things that could happen. I get that, and as a mom, it is still difficult. I am going to exchange my happy place for the chair at the physical therapist or the gym wherever I need to be to support her to get back on her two feet strong and healthy. And if it is in Gods plan for Madi to continue to do well in sports I will be there to cheer again. Every time I look at her knee and start to feel sad, I just need to change my focus and look at her smile that she has continued to have through this entire ordeal. That same smile that is on the sports section of todays Daily Item.
