As you can well imagine, TCM has wall-to-wall horror flicks scheduled for Halloween--check their website for details. Just let me point you to one obscure little gem airing at 3:21pm in the afternoon (eastern), The Devils Cabaret, a full-color 16 minute short made in either 1928 or 1930, depending on how you look at it. Ysee, a big dance production scene was filmed--as were several others--for a musical left unfinished, and wound up with a short built around it instead sometime later. Charles Middleton--best know as Ming the Merciless--convincingly plays Satan, bantering with long forgotten comedian Edward Buzzell regarding luring more folks down into Hades. The jokes are pure corn, sure, but all the more endearing for it--and theres also some pre-code double entendres, and even a suspiciously phallic object lingering on the Devils desk throughout! Well worth a look on so many levels!
