Id give anything to hear her voice again. #dianestrong Heres an update from her sister from 2 hours ago: Just getting started now… By Diane McCarl — 2 hours ago The surgeon just came out and spoke to us. He was just going back now to start the actual surgery (weve already waited an hour). I panicked when I saw him coming towards us, I thought it was bad news!! We asked him what his main concerns were for the surgery. He explained that he has to see how well her right heart is actually functioning in addition to the left side. If her right side is not great, then she will come out with 2 pumps, one for each side. He did say he would give it all hes got to avoid that scenario, though. Risks for the surgery are blood clots forming and breaking off=stroke. Also, excessive bleeding since she has been on blood thinners for a week already. His goal is one pump for the left side, close her chest, get the ECMO cannulas out. So that is what we will hope for. He told us twice that her age is in her favor and he is confident she will make it through the surgery. So, the time clock starts at 8:30 am....gonna be a long morning.
